Allergen Awareness and Food Intolerances
Gain a thorough understanding of the 14 major allergens and your legal obligations with this CPD accredited allergen awareness training course, designed for anyone who works with food in the UK. Allergen awareness is a critical component of food safety, and UK legislation places strict requirements on food businesses to provide accurate allergen information to consumers. This course covers the 14 allergens that must be declared by law — including cereals containing gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soybeans, milk, nuts, celery, mustard, sesame, sulphur dioxide, lupin, and molluscs — and explains how to identify, manage, and communicate allergen risks effectively. You will learn about the legal framework underpinning allergen management in the UK, including Natasha's Law (the UK Food Information Amendment), which requires all food businesses to provide full ingredient and allergen labelling on prepacked for direct sale foods. The course also covers cross-contamination prevention strategies, best practice for allergen communication with customers, and the correct procedures for responding to an allergic reaction. With food allergies affecting an estimated two million people in the UK, proper allergen awareness training is essential for protecting customers and maintaining compliance. Upon completion, you will receive a CPD accredited certificate recognised by employers and environmental health officers across the UK hospitality and food retail sectors.
COSHH Awareness for Hospitality
Understand how to safely handle hazardous substances commonly found in hospitality environments, from cleaning chemicals to kitchen products. Covers COSHH regulations, risk assessments, safe storage, correct use of PPE, and emergency procedures for chemical exposure.
Food Hygiene and Safety Level 2 for Catering
Complete your Food Hygiene Level 2 certification online with this CPD accredited course, designed for anyone who handles, prepares, or serves food in a professional catering environment. Food hygiene training is a legal requirement under UK food safety legislation, and Level 2 is the industry-standard qualification for food handlers working in restaurants, cafes, hotels, pubs, and takeaways. This course covers the essential principles of food safety including bacterial contamination, cross-contamination prevention, safe food storage and temperature control, personal hygiene standards, cleaning and disinfection procedures, and pest awareness. You will also learn about the legal framework governing food safety in the UK, including the Food Safety Act 1990 and the Food Hygiene Regulations 2006. Environmental health officers expect all food handlers to hold a current food hygiene certificate, and many employers make Level 2 food safety certification a condition of employment. Upon completion, you will receive a CPD accredited certificate that demonstrates your competence in food hygiene — recognised by employers and local authorities across the UK hospitality sector. Whether you are starting a new role in catering or need to renew your food hygiene certification, this online course provides flexible, self-paced learning that you can complete from any device.
Food Hygiene and Safety Level 3 for Supervisors
Advance your food safety knowledge with this CPD accredited Food Safety Level 3 course, designed for supervisors and managers who are responsible for overseeing food safety practices in catering, hospitality, and food manufacturing environments. Level 3 is an advanced food safety qualification that goes beyond the core content of Level 2, equipping you with the in-depth knowledge needed to manage food safety systems, supervise food handlers, and ensure regulatory compliance across your organisation. The course covers advanced topics including microbiological hazards in detail, HACCP system implementation and management, pest control strategies, cleaning schedules, staff training responsibilities, and the legal framework governing food safety in the UK — including the Food Safety Act 1990, the Food Hygiene Regulations 2006, and EC Regulation 852/2004. As a supervisor or manager, you have a legal duty to ensure that food safety procedures are followed and that staff under your supervision are adequately trained. This qualification demonstrates to environmental health officers and employers that you possess the knowledge required to fulfil that duty. Upon completion, you will receive a CPD accredited certificate that is widely recognised across the UK food industry. The course is delivered entirely online, allowing you to study at your own pace around your existing work commitments.

Hospitality Training FAQ
At a minimum, most employers require Food Hygiene Level 2 for anyone handling food. Depending on your role, you may also need Allergen Awareness, Manual Handling, and Fire Safety training. Supervisors and managers typically need Food Safety Level 3 and HACCP Level 2 or above. All of these are included in your Chefs Bay Academy licence.
While there is no single law that says every food handler must hold a certificate, the Food Safety Act 1990 and EU Regulation 852/2004 require food business operators to ensure staff are trained and supervised in food hygiene matters. In practice, most employers and local authority inspectors expect at least Level 2 Food Hygiene training.
Food Hygiene Level 2 is designed for anyone handling food — chefs, kitchen porters, front-of-house staff, and catering assistants. Level 3 is aimed at supervisors and managers who are responsible for overseeing food safety systems, training other staff, and managing HACCP procedures. Level 2 typically takes 4-5 hours; Level 3 takes 10-12 hours.
Yes, if you work in any food business. Since the introduction of Natasha's Law in October 2021, all food businesses must provide clear allergen information. Staff handling, preparing, or serving food should be trained to identify the 14 major allergens and understand cross-contamination risks. Our Allergen Awareness course covers all of this.
Yes. All courses are CPD accredited, and certificates are recognised by employers, local authorities, and regulatory bodies across the UK. Many hospitality businesses — from independent restaurants to national chains — accept online CPD accredited training as valid evidence of competence.
